Flea and Tick control

We had a customer come in yesterday who is struggling to control her pets’ flea problem for the first time since becoming a pet owner. Even a line of dawn dish soap around the neck couldn’t keep fleas in check.
Our long time store manager recommends an anti-flea shampoo in this case. Also, it’s very important to make sure there aren’t any sources of fleas outside of your pet’s body. For example, check bedding, carpets, and furniture.
Another source of fleas could be a rat’s nest hidden in your yard. Old decking can harbor rats and other animals causing a flea infestation in your yard - EVEN IF YOU DON’T HAVE PETS.
One way to find the epicenter is to walk around the suspected area with long white tube socks and slippers treated with an anti-flea spray and observe where the most fleas jump onto the white socks. Of course, this requires you to be brave enough to allow fleas to jump on you 😅
Once you know the source of the fleas - even if hidden under decking, you can focus treatments there with products like DE powder.
If you have any tips that have worked for you, please feel free to share in the comments.
Hope to be of service to you all at the store, so come and see us!
